My Top 12 of 2017

These are some of my most recommended spots of 2017 that will keep me coming back for more in 2018! I have linked each to an existing blog post where possible – so click away!

1. DAMAS

1201 Ave Van Horne, Outremont, QC H2V 1K4, Canada

Most recommended of 2017 (and 2016 for that matter).

Everything at this high-end Syrian restaurant, from the mezzes to the mains and even the desserts strike a perfect 10 in my books. It is consistently the first place I recommend to both Montrealers and out-of-towners.

2. PAMIKA

901 Sherbrooke St, Montreal, QC H2L 1L3, Canada

Thai food with flare.

When I crave Thai food, this is my go to. All dishes and drinks are served with style in a cozy atmosphere. The food is always delicious.

3. KAZA MAZA

4629 Park Ave, Montreal, QC H2V 4E4, Canada

Cozy Middle Eastern cuisine.

If Damas isn’t in the budget and you are looking for delicious Middle Eastern eats – this is your spot. Don’t miss their hummus with lamb, fattoush salad, Grilled Akkawi cheese, and lamb shank.

4. LICENCE IV

1524 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, QC H3C 1L1, Canada

My go to for 5 à 7.

Their charcuterie platter, salmon tartare, and drink specials are all on point. The fact that you feel like you’re in a Parisian Bistro is simply a bonus.

5. LE BLOSSOM BAR

1101 Boul de Maisonneuve E, Montréal, QC H2L 1Z6, Canada

The new bar in town.

Le Blossom only made an appearance at the end of 2017, but their sake bar and handrolls may be the perfect recipe for continued success in 2018.

6. MORETTI

1059 Wellington St, Montreal, QC H3C 1V6, Canada

The year’s greatest pizza.Moretti opened in 2017 and quickly became a favourite for many due to their impeccable pizza’s and elaborate Italian menu.

7. CAFE GENTILE

4126 Saint-Catherine St, Westmount, QC H3Z 1P4, Canada

Neighbourhood Italian gem.

Westmount residents are fortunate to have Café Gentile so close by. Their homemade pasta dishes, famous iced tea, and coffees are some of my favourites in the city.

8. PROVISIONS 1268

1268 Ave Van Horne, Outremont, QC H2V 1K6, Canada

Market-fresh fine dining.

Provision’s black board of ever-changing market-fresh ingredients ensure that I will keep coming back year after year. Inform your server of any food allergies, intolerances, or dislikes and voilà – a menu is formulated just for you! My boyfriend’s birthday dinner here was easily one of my favourites of the year.

9. ARTHURS

4621 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, QC H4C 1S5, Canada

Nostalgic Brunch.

Arthurs’ classic Jewish breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes bring me back to my childhood. Their syrniki pancakes, beef bacon, and McArthur sandwich are unparalleled and their consistent weekend brunch lineups are a clear indication that Montrealer’s agree.

10. MAGDALENA

4005 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, QC H4C 1R3, Canada

Wine ft. vegetarian plates.

Calling all vegetarians! Magdalena has a small menu of small vegetarian plates that are perfect to accompany a glass of wine or cocktail. I will definitely be back for more in the New Year.

11. VIN PAPILLON

2519 Rue Notre-Dame West, Montréal, QC, Canada, H3J 1N4

Wine ft. all kinds of plates.

Can’t land a reservation at Joe Beef or Liverpool House? Little sister Vin Papillon has a changing food menu and vast selection of wine. The roasted cauliflower, roasted brussels sprouts and sliced ham with browned butter are amongst my personal favourites.

12. CLOAKROOM BAR

2175 Mountain St #100, Montreal, QC H3G 1Z8, Canada

Cocktails tailored to you.

Inform your waitress on how you like your cocktails (sweet, spicy, strong, light, fruity) and one will be individually crafted for you. If you are looking to impress a first date – this is a sure bet.

And that’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone who followed along in 2017. Happy New Year!

What were some of your favourites this year?
