Bird Bar Adds Southern Brunch to the Mix

1800 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, QC H3J 1M5

What started off as one of Montreal’s first upscale fried chicken establishments soon turned into so much more. Bird bar announced the opening of HenDen (click HERE to read about it!), the hidden bar downstairs a few months ago and recently they have taken it one step further by debuting EVERYONE’S favourite meal of the day – brunch (pardon the generalization).

OF COURSE the first item on their menu is chicken and waffles. Other menu items remain in the Southern realm like their brisket benedict and breakfast grits, and they also have more classic brunch fare like omelettes and eggs benedict.

I have already tried their fried chicken at dinner, so I decided to go with their breakfast grits. The grits were cooked with spinach and pancetta and reminded me of a risotto – rich and creamy. This is served topped with two poached eggs with a side of toast. Though I loved this dish, it is quite heavy. I could have done with a little more spinach and a little less grits considering it was my first meal of the day, but I somehow managed to finish every bite ;).

Breakfast Grits

My friends tried the benedicts (the brisket and classic) served with fruits and potatoes and everyone seemed to enjoy. Particular attention was brought to their well-seasoned and crispy little potatoes.

Brisket Benedict

Bird Bar’s brunch menu brings a Southern flare to the Montreal brunch scene. Stop by for brunch or dinner if you haven’t yet! And I am very curious about those chicken and waffles, so comment below if you’ve tried them already!
