With a new chef on board and an all new wine club celebrating organic and natural wines – Chez Lavigne needs to be on your list for a cozy winter night out.
At their recent media event, I learned so much about wine from the extremely knowledgeable Steve Beauséjour. He spoke passionately about his love for wines, and travels and had me wishing I could be transported to a vineyard in Portugal that instant. He also explained the impact of drinking a natural wine versus a highly processed wine. A good organic and non-highly processed wine should keep you feeling more energetic, rather than lethargic and heavy like some of our favourite gas station wines (which I vow to attempt to stay away from from now on ;).)
As for the food, the gravlax with caviar was light and buttery – I could have definitely had a few more pieces. The mushroom dumpling and winter salad were also delicious and beautifully plated. Though these were just samplings, we got a taste of what to expect from Chez Lavigne, and will be back for dinner (and wine, of course) very soon.
A little hungry and in need of sobering up, we headed down the street for some of my favourite Tacos afterwards at Café Frida. A perfect night in my books!
