A Cute New Spot with Cuban Flair
1216 Avenue Union, Montréal, QC H3B 3C4
La Habanera, a restaurant part of the same group as Escondite and Biiru, recently opened up giving us another reason to head Downtown. I am already a fan of Escondite, so I was excited to give Habanera a try as soon as it opened.
The walls are covered in cuban-themed posters, flamingos, and palm trees. The space is cluttered without feeling overdone and is a cool place to come grab a tropical drink in a plastic pineapple cup (can you scream insta-worthy?), or to share some small plates with friends.
We shared:
–Aguacate salad: a light and refreshing salad with avocado, cucumber, and papaya in a “mojito” dressing
–El Cubano Sandwich: “Mojo” pork, ham, smoked mustard, swiss & provolone cheese, and pickles-
–Pollo a la Criola: braised chicken in a spicy Creole sauce with fried onions
–Pizza Empanada: a fun twist on an empanada – filled with tomato sauce and cheese
–Tres Leches: a creamy and rich Cuban dessert
Our drinks were all fresh and fun, as was the restaurant! Another hot spot in the heart of our city. The restaurant is home to very few tables, so reservations are highly recommended.
Never miss a post again!
