Un Bon Ma’Tine!
1310 Boulevard de Maisonneuve Est, Montréal, QC H2L 2A5
UPDATE: MA’TINE HAS CLOSED
I can’t believe it’s already August! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an Indian summer and I’m trying to enjoy every last bit of sun in our city. That means that when I eat out, it needs to be on a terrace.
In my opinion Ma’Tine, located in the gay village, has one of the loveliest terraces of any Montreal brunch spot. No matter the time of day, brunchers have a glass of wine or bubbly in hand, there is just the right amount of shade from lovely trees in the garden, and it is surprisingly quite large.
Order a delicious latte to wake you up, or one of their specialty drinks (think iced lemonade with mint and cucumber) to cool off.
Their menu is anything but ordinary. With a solid selection to choose from, sample sweet and savoury dishes that are both tasty and original. We ordered the brioche with homemade lemon curd and fresh rhubarb as well as a thick slab of bacon topped with roasted red peppers, beans, and mixed greens.
If you are looking for a place where you could brunch outdoors and soak in some of the ephemeral Montreal sun, I highly recommend Ma’Tine. Afterwards, take a stroll down adjacent St-Catherine street. This section of the street is covered in floating pink balls and is definitely a sight to see. Makes for the perfect afternoon in the gay village!
