There is nothing quite like a grandmother’s cooking.
Everyone tends to think their own grandmother makes the BEST everything, but since I am not of Italian descent, when it comes to Italian food I will have to go elsewhere for the best pizza, pasta, meatballs, Italian breads, and pastries. My grandmothers are still #1 in my books for Middle Eastern and Ashkenazi comfort foods!
So I got pretty excited when I was invited to new Italian Bakery, Rosetta. Located in St. Henri, this bakery is named for the owner’s mother, Rosetta, whose adorable face is painted right on the wall.
We tasted arancini, pizzas, sandwiches, cookies, and their delicious apple bread. Though everything was bite-sized, I got a pretty good idea of what to expect here: Italian comfort food in a casual setting inspired by nonna – perfect for a quick bite, or to pick up lunch on the go.
I will definitely be back to Rosetta to experience more of their classic Italian eats, pastries, and desserts. But for now I’ll salivate just thinking about the food pictured below!
