Holiday Gift Guide 2016

Stopping by a holiday party, or partaking in a gift exchange? Here are 5 independent Montreal boutiques where you could find great gifts – for both fashionistas and foodies alike!

1. Deux Lions

5431 Boul St-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2T 1S5

This brand new jewelry boutique is CHIC. They sell handmade sterling silver jewelry and have a large selection of chokers, which will make the perfect gift for this holiday season. They recently held their grand opening and aside from noshing on delicious Miss Pret A Manger tacos, I also eyed their beautiful and edgy fashion and jewelry collections! Definitely pay them, or their online shop a visit!

2. Nouveau Noir

2075 Rue Crescent, Montréal, QC H3G 2B8

Nouveau Noir has made its mark on the Montreal fashion scene over the past couple of years. With their talent for curating a fashion-forward line of clothing and accesories, this boutique is sure to remain your one-stop-shop for holiday gifts this holiday season and beyond. My favourite? Their super soft French Terry robes – the perfect holiday gift!

3. Olives en Folie

386 Avenue Victoria, Westmount, QC H3Z 2N4

If you’re invited to a dinner party and want to bring along the perfect gift for any foodie, Olives en Folie is a great bet. I include this shop in my list every year, because their product offering never ceases to amaze me. They offer 60+ types of olive oils and vinegars, and best part is – you can taste! Try a bunch until you find the perfect one for your giftee and create your own gift basket by pairing olive oils and vinegars with olive oil dispensers, local jams, and other Quebec artisinal products.

4. Appetite for Books

388 Avenue Victoria, Westmount, QC H3Z 2N4

Another great idea for your foodie friends & family is to gift a cookbook or cooking class from this amazing little spot in Westmount! Appetite for Books offers cookbooks in both French and English, and also hosts food demos, tastings, dinners, and cooking classes based on the cookbooks they carry in their store. Receiving a gift card, or book from here is always a treat.

5. WTFash

2080 Rue Crescent, Montréal, QC H3G 2B8

This boutique on Crescent opened just a few months ago and is quickly becoming Montrealer’s go-to destination for the latest street fashion at a very reasonable price. My picks for holiday gifts? A chic belt, or winter hat adorned with a rainbow fur pom pom (stay warm & trendy all at once!).

Forget Starbucks gift cards, and gifts from other international retailers – support local and create your own beautiful gift baskets from retailers around the city! This sometimes requires a little more effort, but the end product will be totally worth it, and whoever is on the receiving end will surely be thrilled! PLUS most of these boutiques also sell online – supporting Montreal businesses couldn’t get any easier!
