Majestic on the Main
4105 Boul St-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2W
My craving led me straight to Majestique on the Main and reminded me why I stick around for these freezing cold and snowy winters. There is nothing like seeking shelter in quirky and adorable bars like these. What used to be an old deli has been transformed into a cozy resto bar eccentrically decorated with a mix of christmas lights, stuffed animals, and chandeliers. Sounds odd, but it works!
To help my date and I forget about the cold temps outside, we started off with some cocktails and oysters. An SPF cocktail (kaffir lime leaves, rum, etc.) and Majestique’s version of a Cosmo. At this point, the arctic that we call home was long forgotten and our seafood-laden feast began!
Portions are tapas-sized, so make sure to order a few dishes if you’re hungry! We went more for a light late night bite and didn’t get to try their famous 12″ hot dog….but fear not…we will be back. Instead, we tasted the Octopus with cherry tomatoes and pancetta, which was fresh, light, and delicious! We also opted for the shrimp croquettes- delightful fried balls of shrimp served on a flavourful tartar sauce with some shredded vegetables. Finally, we shared the salmon, which was served raw with very thin and crisp slices of bread, cherry tomatoes, cranberries, and popcorn! Interesting (much like the décor), but once again quite light and flavourful- just what we were looking for!
I highly recommend a trip to Majestique for a taste of their unique flavour combinations and snazzy décor. This is also a great place for a date with a foodie.
Take note: this oyster / cocktail / resto bar is opened until 3am (kitchen closes at 2am) 7 days a week and offers Sunday brunch from 11am to 3pm!
